I am the one who made the earth and created mankind upon it. My own hands stretched out the heavens; I marshaled their starry hosts.

Isaiah 45:12

What a delight it would have been to see God creating our universe from nothing, to see order from chaos. And now we live in a remarkable world with finely tuned mechanisms that He established to provide us a pleasant home.

Day 2 · Week 25

Discipleship

Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and you are learning to follow Him and disciple others.

Who is there to harm you if you prove zealous for what is good? But even if you should suffer for the sake of righteousness, you are blessed and do not fear their intimidation, and do not be troubled.

1 Peter 3:13-14

Our Father never promised us the absence of pain and suffering; we sometimes suffer because of the disobedience of others and our own sin, yet we receive His blessings. What could be greater than being blessed and cared for by the Creator of the universe?

My Reflection

Day 3 · Week 25

Humility

You are surrendered, submitting to the will of God.

Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord and whose trust is the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:7

In our sojourn in this life, each day has its own challenges that we must deal with—just and unjust events in our homes, our families, our friends, and in our realm of influence. And yet, day by day, God blesses us as we learn to trust Him more and more.

Day 4 · Week 25

Acknowledgement

Be aware of the situation that God is presenting for your service.

Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 3:13-14

Each day for me begins anew and afresh, even those days that come after not-so-good days or nights when we struggle with sleeplessness. This daily newness begins when we start the day in prayer and Bible study, spending time at the Master's feet, listening as He explains His scriptures.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 5 · Week 25

Acceptance

God is calling and you have accepted His call. You care for people.

All the paths of the Lord are lovingkindness and truth to those who keep His covenant and His testimonies.

Psalm 25:10

Every morning I spend quality time with my heavenly Father, listening as He prepares me for the day ahead. On some days I will teach discipleship or maybe academic skills in a Christian school, or maybe it is a day when I get to pray with others. All these are ministries that the Lord leads me through as I try to obey Him.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 6 · Week 25

Obedience

You are voluntarily following Christ in a ministry of reconciliation.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast.

Ephesians 2:8-9

Pride can easily rise up in our minds and influence our attitudes, especially when God uses us in a mighty way to accomplish His purposes. We can be prideful because we are saved and privileged. God is our adopted Heavenly Father. We must remember that He didn't choose us because of our goodness, but so that we could be changed from within by grace and not by our works.

My Reflection

Day 7 · Week 25

Identification

Recognizing the inner needs of others and looking for ways to serve them.

These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world.

John 16:33

So this is the message that we are to share with a hurting world: we have peace, and so can they when they accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior through grace.

My Reflection

Week 25 Completed

Now that you have completed Week 25, reflect on the foundation of your faith. Did you marvel at God's creative power? Did you share Christ's peace with someone this week?

Week 26

Growing in God's Power

Through Weakness

This Week at a Glance

  • 1Praise God as the mighty one who declares the end from the beginning
  • 2Examine yourself honestly — see weakness, yet trust God's power
  • 3Be generous; discipling others refreshes you through the Holy Spirit
  • 4Recognize God's power to bring life to the spiritually dry
  • 5Embrace your identity: a chosen race, a royal priesthood
  • 6Heed instruction; stay on the path of life in ministry
  • 7Serve with a loving heart, as the woman who anointed Jesus

Day 1 · Week 26

Praise and Worship

You speak, sing, declare, and proclaim who God is and His power.

Remember the former things long past, For I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is no one like Me, Declaring the end from the beginning, And from ancient times things which have not been done, Saying, 'My purpose will be established, And I will accomplish all My good pleasure.'

Isaiah 46:9-10

I praise You, Father. You are the mighty one. I can place all my trust in You, for You are the truth and You have all the power and love to lead me and protect me. Amen.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 2 · Week 26

Discipleship

Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and you are learning to follow Him and disciple others.

For indeed He was crucified because of weakness, yet He lives because of the power of God. For we also are weak in Him, yet we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you. Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test?

2 Corinthians 13:4-5

When I examine myself, I see many weaknesses and failures and times I didn't obey You, and yet as I continue in this life, I also see daily when You take over my thoughts, intents of heart, and actions that lead to obedience.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 3 · Week 26

Humility

You are surrendered, submitting to the will of God.

The generous man will be prosperous, And he who waters will himself be watered.

Proverbs 11:25

To disciple others changes them forever, but it also changes our lives as the Holy Spirit refreshes us and helps us to be submissive to our heavenly Father.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 4 · Week 26

Acknowledgement

Be aware of the situation that God is presenting for your service.

Again He said to me, 'Prophesy over these bones and say to them, "O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord." Thus says the Lord God to these bones, "Behold, I will cause breath to enter you that you may come to life."'

Ezekiel 37:4-5

What awesome power our God has and freely shares with us! In this case, not dry bones, but to those who do not have His salvation.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 5 · Week 26

Acceptance

God is calling and you have accepted His call. You care for people.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God's own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.

1 Peter 2:9

This is a description of who you are in Christ, and it rightly assumes that you have chosen to accept this transformation engineered by God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and the Holy Spirit. This transformation has been slow and steady over the length of your salvation.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 6 · Week 26

Obedience

You are voluntarily following Christ in a ministry of reconciliation.

He is on the path of life who heeds instruction, But he who ignores reproof goes astray.

Proverbs 10:17

Be warned: we must disciple and lead others to Christ, and be careful that our sin nature doesn't interfere with the ministry through Jesus Christ.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 7 · Week 26

Identification

Recognizing the inner needs of others and looking for ways to serve them.

But Jesus said, "Let her alone; why do you bother her? She has done a good deed to Me."

Mark 14:6

If you are not familiar with the story told here of how a woman anointed the feet of Jesus with costly perfume, I suggest you read the whole account from Mark 14. The question is, "Are we doing what Jesus has appointed for us to do with the same loving heart that she showed Jesus?"

My Reflection

Week 26 Completed

Now that you have completed Week 26, what did God show you? Where did you see His strength perfected in your weakness this week?

But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers.

John 4:23

Oh yes, Father, You are everywhere at the same time, and I enjoy calling on You in all the different places You carry me, knowing that as my heavenly Father and giver of gifts, I am secure in Your arms. I need fear no man or beasts or demons or even disease or physical challenges.

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; may Your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

Psalm 143:10

Born again, not by my power or even merit, but by the grace of God through Jesus Christ, and now each morning I am still so that You can reveal Yourself through Your word. Later, as I go through the day, I stop before making decisions to listen to Your still, small voice. I want to glorify You in all things and follow only Your path, LORD, God Almighty.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 3 · Week 27

Humility

You are surrendered, submitting to the will of God.

Then he believed in the Lord; and He reckoned it to him as righteousness.

Genesis 15:6

Here in this verse is Abraham, and the event is one of the times God spoke to him, promising that his descendants would become so numerous that they cannot be counted. At my salvation, when I believed Jesus died for me and rose again from the dead, taking on my sin, then I was saved by grace. I know I was forgiven and will reign with Him forever.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 4 · Week 27

Acknowledgement

Be aware of the situation that God is presenting for your service.

I shall remember the deeds of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will meditate on all Your work And muse on Your deeds.

Psalm 77:11-12

As we ponder the present situations God is leading us into, sometimes we need to just stop and remember all the glorious times in the past when His will has been done. This becomes a reminder of how He will continue to work as we present to Him each challenge and wait and watch.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 5 · Week 27

Acceptance

God is calling and you have accepted His call. You care for people.

Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.

Matthew 11:28-29

There comes a time in each spiritual disciple's life when the scriptures take on new meaning. They were not just written for your benefit to reassure you or lead you, but so that you could use them to reassure others and lead them.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 6 · Week 27

Obedience

You are voluntarily following Christ in a ministry of reconciliation.

Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me and know my anxious thoughts; And see if there be any hurtful way in me, And lead me in the everlasting way.

Psalm 139:23-24

Reconciliation starts with us as we allow our heavenly Father to remove any sin nature that interferes with our desire to obey His commands.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 7 · Week 27

Identification

Recognizing the inner needs of others and looking for ways to serve them.

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ.

Romans 10:17

The lost and the spiritual babes all need to hear You speak, Lord, so when You show me the words You would have me speak to them through the work of the Holy Spirit, I ask that they hear and believe.

My Reflection

Week 27 Completed

Now that you have completed Week 27, how has your walk deepened? Did you move from hearing to speaking God's truth to someone around you?

Day 1 · Week 28

Praise and Worship

You speak, sing, declare, and proclaim who God is and His power.

For thus says the Lord, who created the heavens (He is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited), "I am the Lord, and there is none else."

Isaiah 45:18

Father, I feel so blessed to have been created, protected and loved by You, the perfect Father whom no one can completely fathom and yet Your ways are clearly explained in Your word and actions.

My Reflection

Day 2 · Week 28

Discipleship

Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and you are learning to follow Him and disciple others.

Therefore you will joyously draw water from the springs of salvation.

Isaiah 12:3

I like the usage of the word "joyously," for as I learn more and more how to follow Your commands, I'm noticing how much joy comes with obedience and serving others in the name of Christ.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 3 · Week 28

Humility

You are surrendered, submitting to the will of God.

He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

Ephesians 1:5-6

I praise You, Father, for choosing me and empowering me to accept Your offer of adoption and eternal salvation. I pray for others who have been chosen but haven't accepted Your grace.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 4 · Week 28

Acknowledgement

Be aware of the situation that God is presenting for your service.

For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as the one who serves.

Luke 22:27

In every situation, Jesus served others, and there was no situation that He shied away from, no matter how difficult it might seem to us. Jesus was bold in proclaiming the truth and in living in the moment.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 5 · Week 28

Acceptance

God is calling and you have accepted His call. You care for people.

For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus' sake.

2 Corinthians 4:5

It can be hard sometimes when we reflect on successful service through Christ. We develop self-centered pride as if "we" did it. At these times, I ask the Lord to rebuke Satan, for I know such thoughts sometimes come from him and his attempts to take my focus off of Jesus and onto my selfish pride.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 6 · Week 28

Obedience

You are voluntarily following Christ in a ministry of reconciliation.

I know how to get along with humble means, and I also know how to live in prosperity; in any and every circumstance I have learned the secret of being filled and going hungry, both of having abundance and suffering need.

Philippians 4:12

It can be hard for us Americans to understand what it is like to live without the basic necessities of life—food, shelter, transportation—but we, on the other hand, must learn to deny ourselves possessions, position, and anything that would distract us from full service to the will of God and serving others in His name.

My Reflection

Day 7 · Week 28

Identification

Recognizing the inner needs of others and looking for ways to serve them.

Even though I was formerly a blasphemer and a persecutor and a violent aggressor. Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief.

1 Timothy 1:13

When we remember where we came from and the kind of person we were, and then encounter the lost, we better understand their mindset and their need for accepting Christ. We become witnesses to the amazing, powerful Christ that lives in us and is transforming us into His people. We want that same adoption for everyone.

My Reflection

Week 28 Completed

Now that you have completed Week 28, where did you move from pride to joyful service? How did self-denial open doors for ministry?

Week 29

Finishing Strong

From Pride to Faithful Purpose

This Week at a Glance

  • 1Recognize pride's danger, especially in seasons of success
  • 2Remember that each person answers to God for their choices
  • 3Release your need for recognition and self-promotion
  • 4Serve sacrificially without burdening those you help
  • 5Focus singularly on proclaiming Jesus Christ faithfully
  • 6Trust joyfully in God's salvation and strength
  • 7Praise God for His lordship and your adoption

Day 1 · Week 29

Praise and Worship

You speak, sing, declare, and proclaim who God is and His power.

Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise, exalt, and honor the King of heaven, for all His works are true and His ways just, and He is able to humble those who walk in pride.

Daniel 4:37

Nebuchadnezzar had firsthand knowledge of how God can humble pride in self-proclaimed importance. When life is good and we prosper, rise in popularity, have influence over others, and enjoy what we consider success, we can get puffed up and prideful. We take credit for what God has blessed in our life.

My Reflection

Day 2 · Week 29

Discipleship

Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and you are learning to follow Him and disciple others.

So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

Romans 14:12

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 3 · Week 29

Humility

You are surrendered, submitting to the will of God.

Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.

Psalm 46:10

We have talked about pride and accomplishment, and some about success, and yet none of these can prevent us from focusing on them instead of on Christ.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 4 · Week 29

Acknowledgement

Be aware of the situation that God is presenting for your service.

For if I do wish to boast I will not be foolish, for I will be speaking the truth; but I refrain from this, so that no one will credit me with more than he sees in me or hears from me.

2 Corinthians 12:6

Paul had reason to boast because of his training and many sacrifices for the gospel, but he realized that drawing attention to himself would get others sidetracked from Jesus and the needs of those God has sent him to help.

My Reflection

Offer a short prayer

Day 5 · Week 29

Acceptance

God is calling and you have accepted His call. You care for people.

I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?

2 Corinthians 12:15

Paul was explaining that he does not expect the church to take care of all his physical needs when he is with them. He was willing to work and pay his own way. He didn't want them to do without to supply his needs.

My Reflection

Day 6 · Week 29

Obedience

You are voluntarily following Christ in a ministry of reconciliation.

I have chosen the faithful way; I have placed Your ordinances before me.

Day 7 · Week 29

Isaiah 12:2-3

This verse describes our life with Christ as a life of trust and salvation, both now and evermore. For these reasons, and the joy and peace that He gives His adopted children, we praise and worship Him.

My Reflection

Day 1 · Week 30

Praise and Worship

You speak, sing, declare, and proclaim who God is and His power.

This is the day which the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

Psalm 118:24

It is a time when we disconnect from the demands of life and just praise God. Our staff and volunteers spend their week putting together a "program" that will help us focus on our Heavenly Father and His praise.

Day 2 · Week 30

Discipleship

Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and you are learning to follow Him and disciple others.

If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.

Joshua 24:15

This is a portion of the final speech of Joshua after the Hebrews had settled in their new homes in the promised land. It calls us to pledge not only ourselves to serve our heavenly Father but also our families. We are to become light for our siblings, our parents, our children and extended family.

Day 3 · Week 30

Humility

You are surrendered, submitting to the will of God.

I will most gladly spend and be expended for your souls. If I love you more, am I to be loved less?

2 Corinthians 12:15

Paul loves the Lord so much that he accepted his call to love his neighbor and sacrificed all that he had so that others could hear the gospel and have the opportunity to receive Christ through salvation. Loving God leads and enables us to love others.

My Reflection

Day 4 · Week 30

Acknowledgement

Be aware of the situation that God is presenting for your service.

With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.

Ephesians 6:7-8

This passage teaches us the connection between service to mankind and obedience to God. We are serving others from God's commands, not man's demands. This means God decides how we help others.

Day 5 · Week 30

Acceptance

God is calling and you have accepted His call. You care for people.

But if anyone does not provide for his own, and especially for those of his household, he has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever.

1 Timothy 5:8

He who walks righteously and speaks with sincerity, He who rejects unjust gain And shakes his hands so that they hold no bribe; He who stops his ears from hearing about bloodshed And shuts his eyes from looking upon evil… Your eyes will see the King in His beauty; They will behold a far-distant land.

Isaiah 33:15, 17

The importance here is that God rewards our faithfulness. You will not only see Jesus but will also show Him to others as we witness. Go back and read all of Isaiah Chapter 33.

Day 3 · Week 32

Humility

You are surrendered, submitting to the will of God.

Now Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest,

Acts 9:1

This was the point at which Paul received the sign that he had been forgiven and was now saved. His life made a dramatic change as we are shown in the Bible. No one is beyond the reach of God's transforming grace.

Acknowledgement

Be aware of the situation that God is presenting for your service.

After He had sent the crowds away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray; and when it was evening, He was there alone.

Matthew 14:23

Jesus had just taught and ministered to the crowds and now needed time alone with God, His Father. We need daily quiet time alone with our heavenly Father as we consider our circumstances, and the path God has placed us on.

Day 5 · Week 32

Acceptance

God is calling and you have accepted His call. You care for people.

I in them and You in Me, that they may be perfected in unity, so that the world may know that You sent Me, and loved them, even as You have loved Me.

John 17:23

This is part of a prayer Jesus offered for unity together with Jesus in our hearts. Caring for people is not just for lost people or Christians who need help, but also for our co-laborers that we work with in the church and the community.

Day 6 · Week 32

Obedience

You are voluntarily following Christ in a ministry of reconciliation.

She said to Him, "Sir, You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep; where then do You get that living water?"

John 4:11

If we are to minister to others, we must also make sure that the living water from Jesus is flowing through us.

Day 7 · Week 32

Identification

Recognizing the inner needs of others and looking for ways to serve them.

"Come now, and let us reason together," Says the Lord, "Though your sins are as scarlet, They will be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They will be like wool."

Isaiah 1:18

As you proclaim Jesus to the lost and they begin to respond, a great shame for their sins may come upon them. If they are drawn by Jesus and accept it, then declare to them the hope of forgiveness. It is a good verse to use.
